Resisting Temptation

My iPhone offered me the choice of two updates this afternoon:

  • an urgent security update (iOS 15.7)
  • a new shiny version of iOS with the security update included (iOS 16)

Somewhat to my surprise, I decided against installing the new shiny version, at least for now.

I also discovered that unplugging the TiVo while we were in Africa may not have been as good an idea as I thought. We did save electricity, and maybe some wear and tear on the hard disk, but when I finally plugged the TiVo in this evening, it was very confused because it had run out of show data. It connected to the TiVo service and came partially back to life, but I think it’s going to take a while before it’s fully sane.

Busy Monday

I got some things accomplished today; the pile of unprocessed mail is much smaller, and I ordered a new laptop (an M2 MacBook Air – next time I go to Africa, I’ll be able to deal with my photos a lot faster than I did on this year’s trip).

I also was the Toastmaster for the Silicon Valley Storytellers‘s club contest this evening – it was my first Toastmasters meeting in over a month, the longest break I’ve ever taken.

We also worked out this morning for the first time since our vacation, and that must be why I’m exhausted!
