A Day of Meetings

As I predicted yesterday, I spent all of Monday closeted in a windowless meeting room at the St. Kilda Road Travelodge in Melbourne. By the time I escaped, it was quite dark and too late to do any sightseeing, but as I walked back to my hotel, trying to avoid sliding on the fallen leaves on the sidewalk, I enjoyed the nice autumn weather (April is the first full month of autumn (not "fall") here).

In the evening, the group had dinner at Walter's Wine Bar in South Gate, on the banks of the Yarra River. The food was good; the wine was excellent (Monty Python's opinion of Australian Table Wines notwithstanding). And I got to see the Southern Cross en route, since it was the first clear night on my entire trip to Australia; I didn't have my camera with me, though.
