DOM, Day 2

Again, I spent most of the day trapped in the St. Kilda Travelodge attending the DOM meeting (well, that is why I was in Melbourne in the first place!). But at lunch, I took a very brief excursion around the Shrine of Remembrance, which is just across the street; this very large memorial, set in a large park, is dedicated to the memory of those who have fallen in all of Australia's wars. The inscription in front of the Shrine reads: "This is holy ground", and the Shrine is treated accordingly.

After the meeting finally ended at 5, I went back to the hotel, had a quick dinner, and took off for the airport. I was lucky and was able to take an earlier flight to Sydney, and was established in my room by 9:30.

I'm in the Old Sydney ParkRoyal, in the Rocks, but have no photos yet; the hotel is nice enough, but in comparison to the Conrad and the Tilba, it's definitely a step back towards the ordinary. It started raining in Sydney as soon as I arrived; I'm hoping for some better weather before I leave.

Tomorrow, I visit the first of three IBM locations to talk about W3C and IBM.
